EMPLOYMENT

Whether people work for you or you work for someone else, you need to know where your rights and duties lie, and we can give you all the help you need. The law affects your job or your workforce in all sorts of ways, and there are both statutes and established practices to take into account.

It is what you don't know that catches you out.

We know what you need to know - you only have to ask.

CONTRACTS OF EMPLOYMENT
Every employee is under a contract, even if it is not written down but the law requires some parts of any contract to be given to all employees in writing. Whether as employer or employee, you need the terms to be clear. The safe thing to do is have the terms drafted or explained by a lawyer, so that you know what they mean. We can give you all the advice you need about these problems.

DISMISSAL
Either party may want to end a contract, but the law sets boundaries to the rights of both. If you need to end a worker's employment, you have to get the process right. If you've lost your job you need to know if it was done legally. Any number of issues can end up as a case before an Employment Tribunal. We can advise you at an early stage, and perhaps save the matter from going that far. And if it has to go to a Tribunal, we can represent you as well.
